Do you also feel heart-broken about Ukraine?
Born in a chaotic world, it is no longer taken for granted. There is an old Chinese saying that “one cannot help oneself in the jungle”, and I feel it very deeply at this moment.
The Ukrainian news reported that a mother sent her young daughter to a train alone, but she did not shirk her responsibility to take care of her daughter, but it is ironic that because she did not shirk her responsibility to take care of her disabled mother, she sent her daughter away in tears and went to do her duty as a daughter. That makes people cry.
In Ukraine, the train is also a heart-cracked train, carrying families torn apart; the sound of the train rumbling, covering up heartaches. Even if people in the train gradually go far away, life is not easy to go far; but those chose to stay behind, the war also makes them not easy to stay alive. Too much helplessness.
Being in Hong Kong, there is no news about Ukraine in the official media, but there are many enthusiastic people who take the initiative to find other sources of information. Hong Kong has been in the world’s spotlight, and now it’s time to do the same for Ukraine.
Russian athletes displayed the “No War” slogan in front of the live Olympic cameras, and there were demonstrations against the war in Russia, reflecting that there is a considerable amount of civilians against the war and not everyone is indulging in the so-called “Great Russian Dream”. If God wants you to perish, he will first make you crazy. The so-called dream of the Great Russian Empire is probably just someone’s own wishful thinking. There are still many people who love peace and are willing to coexist.
When I saw the news report, the Russian soldiers were fed with expired rations and some of them were even told that they would be welcome to enter Ukraine for drills. This is a total deception for the lower ranking soldiers. After entering the army, the soldiers were basically cut off from the outside world and only received notifications from their superiors and the military. They are tools, so to speak, tools to satisfy someone’s ambitions. Sadly, they were deceived and even paid with their lives in exchange for what was ostensibly a proper defense of NATO. Some of those soldiers are very young and have families. Like Ukrainians, they can lose their homes and families at any time, and their families can lose them at any time. Not only did neither side win, but the people of both countries suffered.
The soldiers on the battlefield are not the only ones who are hurt by the war. Even the Russian people who are against the war, who are willing to live with Ukraine, are not immune to the damage. The Russian ruble, which was excluded from the Swift system, was devalued as much as and as fast as the waterfall, which was shocking and saddening.
Russian people who oppose the war work just as hard, save just as much for themselves and their families, but even if they oppose the war, they cannot avoid the damage. Their hard-earned savings have lost so much due to devaluation that they even saw Russian people spreading money in the upper floors of shopping malls while the lower strata of the population turned a blind eye to it, only to see some people pick up their cell phones and record it, but no one was willing to pick up the money. It was a sad sight to see, and perhaps a silent outrage.
They are working legally and properly, working hard for themselves and their families to improve their lives, and standing on the right moral ground, but they have to suffer huge losses.
It is the responsibility of all the major countries to stop the war, and those who should have stopped it did not. The Memorandum of Security and the pledges that were signed have become “historical documents”, and they were allowed to become history. Those who should not have acted did so, forgetting the MOU and the pledges they had signed, and letting them become “historical documents” as well. It is regrettable that many people in both countries sacrificed themselves for this, which could have been avoided.
Whichever country “wins,” the people of either country lose, because the blood and the cost are actually the result of those ambitious people.
I pray for the innocent people of Ukraine and Russia, and please take hold of your lives and know the Lord Jesus and ask Him to save all of us.
